“DOES HIV LOOK LIKE ME?” YOUNG PERSONS LIVING WITH HIV RETREAT
Summary of Project
Does HIV Look Like Me? International would like to provide two retreats a year for young people living with HIV in Canada and the US. The retreat is intended to help them to talk about issues such as disclosure, navigating the healthcare system, positive prevention and treatment options. This retreat would be attended by 10-15 positive youth, healthcare professionals, HIV Specialists and Treatment specialists. The objective is to create an environment that would facilitate open conversations, healthy doctor patient relationships, real life experiences and real life fears of adherence, resistance and side effects. The retreat will also give the participants a chance to connect with each other, talk about taking control of their status, making positive sexual health choices and hopefully leaving with a stronger sense of their rights and able to make better health decisions.
